Al Andalus Garden: A Historical Jewel on the Nile

Built in 1935 by Mohamed Bek Zulfikar during the reign of King Fouad I, Al Andalus Garden spans two feddans and stands as a remarkable blend of cultural influences. The southern section showcases exquisite Andalusian design, while the northern section features impressive Pharaonic statues. In recognition of its unique architectural character and historical significance, the garden was declared Egypt’s first Islamic heritage site in 2010.

Recent restoration efforts have revitalized the garden while preserving its original charm.

These enhancements included the meticulous restoration of architectural elements, refurbishment of historic fountains with modern water systems, and the installation of a comprehensive irrigation and drainage network for the plants. The service building was upgraded to include restrooms, a mosque, administrative offices, and a small museum. Additionally, aesthetic lighting was introduced to enhance the garden’s beauty, along with the installation of sound systems and security cameras. To restore the view of the Nile, the modern perimeter wall was replaced with an elegant decorative iron fence.
